Izaskun Chinchilla

Izaskun Chinchilla Architects have worked in both the public and private sectors in work ranging from product design and museography to urban planning. For each project, we bring together a specific interdisciplinary team with frequent collaborators in areas such as: sociology and public participation, energy and environmental assessment and certification, landscaping, industrial design, marketing and institutional communication, graphic design, circular economy, art curatorship, integral accessibility or placemaking among others, which has forced me to master different languages and methods to set common design objectives by coordinating very diverse stakeholders.
Izaskun Chinchilla published the book The Caring City (translated into English in 2022 by Ed Actar), the fifth edition of which is sold out and with great impact in Latin America and Spain, with more than 200 reviews devoted in professional media. In the book Izaskun propose 8 transformations of the soft layer of cities (furniture, landscaping, rules) that distribute, through design, new rights to normally excluded users having part of the propositions been undertaken by different cities internationally. In 2020, Izaskun also published Cosmowomen, with the Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Roma, which explores the distinctive values of design made by women.
