Talks

Opening of the pavilion Levedad y Denuncia. El bordado como utopía en femenino

The opening of this pavilion will be accompanied by a roundtable discussion featuring the teams behind the three projects selected in the Onsite Mugak/ Donostia competition. The conversation will revolve around the concept of utopia in architecture, the central theme of this fifth edition of the Biennial — “Castillos en el aire o cómo construir la utopía hoy” (“Castles in the Air, or How to Build Utopia Today”) — and will offer participants the opportunity to share their reflections and creative processes.

The round table will be moderated by Juan Francisco Fuentes-Lojo, architect and Editor-in-Chief of Diariodesign magazine.

Participants:
Izaskun Chinchilla (Izaskun Chinchilla Architects), first prize
Jesús San Vicente (Equipo 01), second prize
Óscar Cruz (Cruz Atelier), special mention
The pavilion Levedad y Denuncia. El bordado como utopía en femenino is an installation that explores embroidery as a symbolic act of resistance and care, and as a historically feminized practice that becomes here a medium for critical and poetic expression. The proposal highlights lightness—both material and conceptual—as an architectural language and as a strategy to imagine alternative futures from an inclusive and socially engaged perspective.
