María Auxiliadora Gálvez

Mª Auxiliadora Gálvez is an architect by the E.T.S.A.M. and PhD in Architecture since 2012. She is also a Landscape Architect (member of IFLA) and Professor of the Feldenkrais Method of Somatic Education. Since 1998 she has been a professor at the Polytechnic School of the USP CEU and has been invited to develop various workshops, conferences or postgraduate programs in places like Graz, Panama, Milan, Greenwich, Harvard, Hamburg, Nicosia, Vienna or Buenos Aires. In 2016 she founded the "Plataforma de Somática aplicada a la Arquitectura y el Paisaje" (PSAAP) where aspects of ecology are addressed from the experience of the body in architectural, urban and landscape design. From this perspective and with the laboratory of the Platform (LSAAP) she has recently collaborated with institutions such as the Reina Sofia Museum, the Municipal Gallery of Oporto or Die Angewandte. She has been awarded in various national and international competitions, highlighting the prizes in the VI, VII and IX editions of Europan. Her work has been published, among others, in the monographic publication "Excepto 21. Cartografías Activas" and is the author of the books "Espacio Somático. Cuerpos Múltiples" published in 2019 and "DESCAMPADOS. Caminar los paisajes revolucionarios en la ciudad somática" (2022). Between 2006 and 2010 she has been Coordinator for Panama within the International Cooperation Programme for Social Housing developed by the Junta de Andalucía. She is a member of the "International Ambiances Network" (France), is a member of the board of researchers of the "Centre for Sensory Studies" (Canada) and participates in the international project "Navigating Dizziness Together" (Austria).
