Last call to enter the Mugak/ 2025 programme: the International Architecture Biennial of the Basque Country, an initiative of the Basque Government's Department of Housing and Urban Agenda, has opened its third and final call for activities. On this occasion, under the name Off Mugak/, it is looking for externally promoted or self-produced projects that wish to join the programme of this fifth edition. The call is open until 10 May to any person or entity in Spain or abroad.
The theme of this fifth edition of Mugak/, which will take place between October and November 2025, is ‘Castles in the air, or how to build utopia today’. Thus, we are looking for activities that will take place during these dates and are related to the conceptual framework of this Biennial. Talks or conference programmes, presentation of research and publications, visits, exhibitions, audiovisual pieces, performances, actions or any other free and open cultural activity can be presented. The initiatives must be financed, managed and produced by the persons or entities that apply for this call.

Mugak/ 2025 will deploy its programme throughout the three Basque territories. In this sense, it will be positively valued the fact of having a confirmed space for the celebration of the activity presented to this call. However, depending on the content and format of the chosen proposal, the Biennial organisers may offer the possibility of using one of the available locations in the three capitals. Among them are the three ephemeral architectures selected under the Onsite Mugak/ call, the Basque Institute of Architecture or the Bilbao and Vitoria-Gasteiz headquarters of the Official Basque-Navarre College of Architects.
Now, after the Onsite Mugak/ call and the call for the economic promotion of cultural activities, Open Mugak/, this third and last Off Mugak/ will close the entire programme of the Biennial for this autumn. All the rules, selection criteria and additional information can be consulted in the Off Mugak/ section of the call.
