Archivo Peña Ganchegui

The Peña Ganchegui Archive was established in 2012 with the purpose of preserving and disseminating the work of Luis Peña Ganchegui (Oñati, 1926 – Donostia, 2009), the most prominent figure in Basque architecture over more than forty years of intense and uninterrupted professional activity.

The institution holds the entire professional and personal legacy of the architect after whom it is named, including documentation for 287 projects, consisting of 6,842 drawings and 1,651 original sketches, as well as 7,233 photographs in various formats and more than 60,000 pages of written documentation.

The collections are fully available to the public and may be consulted by appointment. The documentation preserved is also the subject of monographic publications and temporary exhibitions produced by the Peña Ganchegui Archive, which maintains its own exhibition space at the Basque Institute of Architecture. These activities are carried out within the framework of the collaboration agreement signed with the Department of Territorial Planning, Housing and Transport of the Basque Government.
