Laura Martínez de Guereñu

Laura Martínez de Guereñu is an architect and an Associate Professor at IE University’s School of Architecture and Design, where she leads the academic area of History, Theory, and Criticism. From 2021 to 2023, she was a Humboldt Research Fellow at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Her research focuses on recovering the voices and contributions of architects and visual artists whose work has been historically overlooked, and on examining how their legacies are constructed in the absence of a unified archive. She has published in scholarly journals such as Grey Room, Architectural Histories, Archivo Español de Arte, and Docomomo Journal, and guest-edited the monographic issue Who Designs Architecture? (RA. Revista de Arquitectura). She has contributed to international publications including Bauhaus In and Out: Perspectives from Spain (2019), Marcel Breuer: Building Global Institutions (2017), and Josef Albers: Minimal Means, Maximum Effect (2014). Her work has been supported by competitive research programs such as the Lilly Reich Grant for Equality in Architecture (2018) and the Leonardo Grant for Scientific Research and Cultural Creation (2015). Her book Lilly Reich in Barcelona: The Materialization of a Neglected Authorship (Fundació Mies van der Rohe, 2025) is the result of over a decade of research and brings together evidence from more than fifty archives. .
