María Ruiz de Gopegui Aramburu

María Ruiz de Gopegui Aramburu (Bilbao, 1987) is an architect and holds a PhD in Environmental Science and Technology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB) and the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3). Her work explores the intersection between planning processes, urban design, resilience, and climate justice. An urban architect trained at the University of Navarra (2011) and holder of a Master’s degree in Urban Management and Development from Erasmus University Rotterdam (2018), she has developed her career at the crossroads of urban and landscape design and applied research on climate adaptation. She currently works as an architect at the Bilbao City Council, combining her technical duties with research and consultancy projects in the fields of sustainable urbanism and environmental justice.
