Plácido Lizancos Mora

(Caracas, 1962). Full professor at the University of A Coruña. He teaches Architectural Analysis and Basic Habitat at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the aforementioned university. He also worked as an architect until 2010, mainly being responsible for the buildings of the Galician social programme and for artistic and rural heritage catalogues. His teaching and research also share this social focus. In this context, his doctoral thesis “Las migraciones en la conformación de la casa campesina contemporánea” [The role of migration in the configuration of contemporary rural houses] is a housing study that claims the power of self-managed architecture in the absence of other processes. As a volunteer with “Arquitectura sin Fronteras” [Architecture without borders], he participated in development cooperation projects. The experience he gathered in those situations of precarious habitability shows in the different development cooperation activities of the University he has carried out in the global South. He belongs to the “Grupo de Estudos Territoriais” [Group of Land Studies] of the University of A Coruña.
