Bionic Architecture Workshop

Introduction to bionics:

Bionics is a science, melting pot of several scientific disciplines that was born in the 60s of the 20th century in order to develop research projects that will connect the knowledge of species in nature with industrial design (see IB Littinetsky: 'Introduction to Bionics). 'BIO-MÍMESIS' or 'BIO-TECNOLOGÍA' are some of the names with which these processes are known today.

Introduction to BIONIC ARCHITECTURE:

In 1984 the architect Javier Pioz, creator and pioneer of Bionic Architecture, began at Columbia University of New York the first research on natural organisms in order to innovate in the development of structural, constructive and architectural models that learned from logic of the laws and systems of biological structures.

Objective of the workshop:

Introduct students in the processes of knowledge of the logic of geometric-dynamic patterns of living structures and in the development of potential applications in architecture.

Theoretical lectures will be given during the different days of the workshop and various practical exercises will be carried out to introduce the three fundamental principles of biological structures.

Organized by: Technical School of Architecture of UPV / EHU.
