Ula Iruretagoiena


Ula Iruretagoiena is a PhD architect and adjunct professor of Design Studio at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of Donostia-San Sebastián (EHU/UPV). She practices architecture at nizu studio and collaborates with contemporary art and culture centers in the Basque Country on the creation of exhibition spaces and the production of critical content. She takes part in Berdeapiztu, a project focused on the re-naturalization of public school playgrounds, promoted by the City Council of Donostia in collaboration with the sistema lupo studio. She is a member of the research group Kontu Laborategia—Contar en la investigación de la frontera, where she explores ecological logics and the narratives they inscribe in the construction of architectural spaces. She contributes monthly to the media outlets Argia and Gaur 8, sharing knowledge about architectural spaces and territory. She is the author of the book Proyectar la incertidumbre (Diseño editorial, 2022) and has recently contributed to the collective volume Contar el abandono: Paisajes de un mundo en ruinas (Bellaterra Edicions, 2024). She currently coordinates the university micro-credential Landartean: Pensar el medio natural at the EHU/UPV.
