Jonas Klaassen

Jonas Klaassen (he/him) develops spatial strategies between art, architecture, and public space. He studied architecture at RWTH Aachen, the Tokyo Institute of Technology, and the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).
Through collaborations with architectural offices and artist collectives such as raumlabor (Berlin), GA Estudio (Santiago de Chile), and Atelier Bow-Wow (Tokyo), he has contributed to ephemeral projects across Europe, Chile, and Japan.
Spanning from modular furniture to tensile and inflatable membrane structures, his work has been acknowledged by the TAC! Urban Architecture Competition, the Academy of Arts, Berlin, among others, and has been published in various books.
Selected projects include the Walk&Talk Pavilion (Azores, 2019, with GA Estudio), the HKW Pavilion (Berlin, 2023, with raumlabor), the extension of the historic beach pavilion in Binz (Rugen, 2024, with stoffdach.construction), and Her(r)bergskirchen (Thuringia, 2024, with studio etcetera, funded by IBA Thuringia) — each exploring ephemeral and reversible construction methods in diverse public contexts.
Jonas has taught ephemeral architecture at UdK Berlin and RPTU Kaiserslautern, and is currently teaching and researching at TU Graz.
