Isadora Hastings García


Mexico City.
She holds a Master’s degree in Architecture from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Polytechnic University of Madrid. She is a co-founding partner, together with engineer Gerson Huerta, of the non-profit organization Cooperación Comunitaria A.C. Since 2012, she has served as General Coordinator of the organization, where she leads projects aimed at rural communities in Mexico’s most vulnerable states.
She has extensive experience in the application of participatory processes for the Social Production and Management of Habitat (PyGSH), as well as in reconstruction efforts with an integral and systemic approach, through the dialogue of knowledges (diálogo de saberes).
For its comprehensive reconstruction work, Cooperación Comunitaria has received several awards, including:
• The Transformative Cities Award in the Housing category,
• The Social Production of Habitat Award 2017, Latin America.
She has delivered numerous lectures at both national and international levels on PyGSH and participatory recovery and reconstruction processes.
Since 2020, she has been a member of the National Academy of Architecture of Mexico, and since 2023, she has served on the Latin America Regional Council of the Habitat International Coalition (HIC).
