Bruno Sauer

Architect, urban planner, CEO of GBCe – Green Building Council España
Bruno Sauer graduated in Architecture from the School of Architecture in Antwerp (Belgium) and continued his studies in urban planning and architecture at the Polytechnic University of Barcelona.
After several years of close collaboration with Pich-Aguilera Arquitectos, he co-founded Bipolaire Arquitectos with Miguel Arraiz in 2002. He remains a founding partner, though no longer professionally active in the firm. Bipolaire Arquitectos focuses exclusively on sustainable building and urban planning, participating in international innovation projects.
In 2003, he joined the Polytechnic University of Valencia as an associate professor in the Department of Urban Planning. He has taught at several European universities, including Artesis Antwerp, Mimar Sinan Istanbul, École d’Architecture Bordeaux, and ZHAW Winterthur. From 2011 to 2018, he continued teaching at the European University of Valencia.
In 2011, he became Technical Director of Green Building Council España (GBCe), and in 2015 he was appointed CEO, a position he still holds today. He served on the Board of Directors of the World Green Building Council (2016–2022), is a founder of the European think tank G17 (www.g17.eu), and of the international movement SHIFT (www.shift.global). He is currently Vice President of CPEA – Climate Positive Europe Alliance (www.cpea.eu).
He is the author of several publications and books, all focused on the field of sustainable construction.
Bruno is a father of three and a lifelong cyclist.
