Alessandra Gabriele

Alessandra Gabriele (1984) is an architect and PhD candidate at the Department of Architecture in Pescara, Italy, and a visiting researcher at the Department of Architecture at TU Delft. In 2023, she earned a Master’s degree in Artistic Communication from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, with a thesis focused on education through the built environment.
She collaborates with the No Man’s Land Foundation, an open-air museum conceived and created by architect Yona Friedman, where she has designed and implemented activities, projects, and research aimed at promoting architectural culture.
She is the author of the book Esperienza dello Spazio. Educazione Ludica all’architettura (Experience of Space: Playful Education in Architecture) (Libria, 2024), which explores innovative approaches to spatial education through playful and sensory interaction, emphasizing how architecture can be learned not only as a formal discipline but through bodily and experiential processes. As a doctoral candidate, Alessandra is developing a pedagogy for spatial education, focusing on the role of sensory interaction and bodily experience in the understanding of architecture.
Her research explores how art and architecture can bridge the gap between specialized knowledge and the public’s perception and experience of space. Currently, at TU Delft, her research within the “Archives of Architecture of the Future” group, under the supervision of Professor Dirk van den Heuvel, focuses on the design and theoretical work of Aldo van Eyck, with particular attention to how architectural forms can foster playful and educational experiences in the built environment.
