NAKAGIN 1:1 is a project developed around an installation in a public space in San Sebastian, a real-size replica of a housing capsule from the Nakagin Tower by the Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa. The capsule room is the core of a programme with visits, talks, workshops and screenings.
On one hand, it intends to make known this peculiar building, its context, the problems it addressed and the ones it is facing today. On the other hand, it tries to broaden the perspective by tackling some of the challenges that the Nakagin building is revealing: mobility limitations in architecture, the future of housing or the protection of modern architectural heritage.
