Art installation representing the profound urban transformation of Bilbao over a period of 25 years. It shows how an environmentally deteriorated city with an industrial production system in crisis became one of the most attractive cities in Europe.
It presents the city as a living organism and allows the visitor to read its urban and architectural past and to glimpse its immediate future. The topography is recreated through emptiness and the absence of light, confronted by the illuminated urban fabric. Alongside this structure, images of the sea and the mountains, key elements of Bilbao's personality, are projected.
The work of the Madrid artist Esther Pizarro, it was designed for the Bilbao pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. It was the central element of the "Bilbao Guggenheim ++" exhibition space with which the capital of Bizkaia participated in the Best Urban Practices Area of the Shanghai World Expo.
